EFI is seeking a Communications Officer for its new office in Bonn, Germany which will be established early 2017.  The Office will be located at the Bonn UN Campus.

The Communications Officer will be responsible for developing communications activities at the office. The Communications Officer will report directly to the Head of Mission in EFI Bonn, whilst working in close cooperation with the Communications Unit at EFI Headquarters.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement research and policy support related communication activities
  • Providing updates on activities and content implemented by EFI Bonn Office using social media
  • Developing and maintain media relations
  • Managing publications including planning, budgeting and editing
  • Organising and providing support to events i.e. workshops, seminars and international conferences


  • At least 3 years of professional communication experience
  • Master’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations or related field
  • Excellent spoken and written skills in both English and German are essential
  • Event coordination experience
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure, ability to be flexible as part of a small team
  • Experience in networking
  • Good interpersonal skills and proven intercultural competence with demonstrated ability of working in multi-disciplinary, international teams and environments
  • Excellent MS Office skills experience of website content management systems, Adobe Acrobat and working knowledge of Photoshop
  • Experience in budget management, photography or online video production/editing are an asset

Duty Station

The employee will be based at EFI’s Office in Bonn, Germany.

Employment Conditions

The employee will be an EFI staff member.  A fixed term appointment of five years is envisaged with an option for extension.  Ideally, the successful candidate will take up the post in March 2017.
