Description

Full time, Annual contract.

Public interest environmental law organisation ClientEarth is seeking a new member for its communications team. Based in either Brussels or London, the communications officer will need to work closely with our communications, legal and support teams across Europe, servicing the organisation as a whole.

About the role

ClientEarth’s communications officers fulfil a broad range of internal and external communications needs, including press relations, print marketing and web development. The successful applicant will be able to build upon their existing grounding in all of these fields, tailoring messages to suit each medium and a wide variety of audiences.

Integrating the work of our offices is an ongoing priority for ClientEarth. The communications team works closely together and with staff across Europe every day. Applicants should be prepared to travel regularly within Europe for short periods.

We have a newly established Warsaw office; fostering relations with the Polish media and building the capacity of the Warsaw team will be just one element of this process, and each member of the communications team will play a crucial part.

About you

You will be educated to at least degree level with a history of fulfilling a broad range of communications roles, with a demonstrable track record of initiative and achievement in your professional life.

Experience in developing a brand and working with designers, websites and marketing professionals is important. The role will also involve regular interaction with the press and a grounding in communications with the media is useful.

You will be an excellent communicator, able to identify issues and opportunities and be able to plan strategically or react speedily with a good political sense.

You will need to be able to turn complex legal and scientific issues into accessible and compelling messages. Knowledge of environmental issues and how to deploy communications to effect positive environmental change are also sought.

Superior written and spoken English are an essential requirement – an ability to speak a second European language would be a strong asset.

Regular travel between our Brussels, Warsaw  and other offices will be required, depending on programme and organisational needs.
