Position Overview
ICLEI seeks a highly talented, creative and motivated candidates for the position of Communications Manager. The Communications Manager will be part of ICLEI’s World Secretariat in Bonn, Germany. The position is suited for a dynamic communications professional with proven experience in strategic corporate communications, public-private partnership management, sponsoring and fundraising, and international communications coordination.
Responsibilities
- Communicate ICLEI’s ambitious mandate, services and products to international audiences through clear messages in English
- Serve as spokesperson of the organization
- Act as public relations manager and marketing visionary
- Create an international communications strategy to profile the organization and support its relations to Member local governments, partners and sponsors, and coordinate its implementation
- Develop corporate communication guidelines; apply ICLEI’s corporate design in multiple media and in collaboration with other offices
- Manage the creation of core communication products following the communication strategy (newsletters, publication series, exhibition stands, white papers, etc.)
- Develop ICLEI’s media relations, develop media contacts
- Manage a small team of communication professionals for online presence, Web 2.0 features, corporate presentations and publications; and liaise with contact points in other ICLEI offices
- Requirements
- Degree in a relevant subject such as Communication, Public Relations, Journalism or similar
- Minimum of seven years professional experience in an organizational environment
- At least two years experience in a communications manager position, and two years experience public-private partnership development or in business development and fundraising
Abilities and Skills
- English Language at native level, fluency in another international business language is an asset
- Experience in a wide range of communications media including strategies, print and online products, and social media
- Thriving within the realities of non-for-profits regarding demands, resources, expectations; combining strategic vision with hand-on implementation
- Experienced in management in international working environments
- Ability to sell ideas, build consensus with partners whether internal or external to the organization
- Knowledge of the municipal world, sustainability, urban planning and infrastructures
- Solutions-oriented and creative
Terms and Conditions
- Full-time position available from April 2010
- Position based in Bonn, Germany. International travel will be required. Communication with partners around the world may require unusual working hours
- The gross salary range is 52,000-60,000 Euro annually dependent on qualifications and experience
- The Communications Manager reports to the Secretary General.
