Communications Manager—Americas

Location:  Seattle, WA. 

Salary Range:  US$48,000-$58,000, depending on experience

Benefits:  3 weeks annual vacation plus 10 holidays, health, dental, long-term disability insurance, 403B retirement plan, and option to participate in Section 125 cafeteria plan.

Minimum requirements:  Must have the right to work in the U.S; able to travel on an occasional basis, and work irregular hours when necessary. 

Overview:  The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) seeks a Communications Manager for its Americas Regional Office, reporting to the Communications Director.  MSC is the world’s leading certification and eco-labeling program for wild capture fisheries. Through its certification and labeling program, the MSC seeks to contribute to reversing decline in global fish stocks, delivering quantifiable improvements in marine conservation and helping secure the livelihoods of those involved in the global fishing industry.

The Americas Communications Manager will support the implementation of communications and marketing strategies for MSC in the region and will contribute to MSC’s global communications work.  The person in this position will be an integral part of the MSC Americas regional team and will work with a variety of global MSC colleagues and stakeholders, members of the media, fisheries, commercial partners and the conservation community.

The Communications Manager will be responsible for press releases, research and writing projects, development and production of print and electronic materials, media relations, leveraged marketing campaigns, event planning and coordination, consumer outreach and other essential communications support.

The successful candidate will have five plus years of relevant communications experience, and excellent professional and interpersonal skills.

This is a fast-paced role with the opportunity to manage diverse projects in support of the mission and vision of the MSC.  It requires exceptional writing, communication and organizational skills, and the ability to combine strategic and creative thinking with the execution of “hands-on” tasks.
