Through a communications internship with ForestEthics, you can receive valuable training and make a critical impact on successful campaigns targeting the big destroyers of Endangered Forests and big enablers of climate change. We make sure that our interns learn new skills and are exposed to the communications strategy and tactics of our organizations’ projects and campaigns.
ABOUT THIS INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY:
Held in San Francisco
Two months -- November through December 2009
Start date is immediate
Office hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday – internship hours are flexible within these hours
This position is 20-30 hrs/wk; part-time
This is intenship with a stipend of $500/month; we can offer course credits upon completion

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Media archival and acquisition
Web posting and web content management
Assisting with media and online social networking strategy
Content production and coordination for printed and online publications
Updating and compiling media contact lists
Coordination of printed and online material production
Assisting the Communications team with daily operations
QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated interest in online and offline communications
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Good organizational and project management skills
Fabulous team-player and to work in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to work according to goals and work plans agreed upon between you and your supervisor
Strong internet skills and intuition
Interest in protecting the environment
Must have computer for internship use and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Web/Print Design and production skills and software
Video editing skills and software
Proofreading skills
Experience working with press
Knowledge of HTML
Knowledge of social-networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube
Graphic design sensibility
