PlasticsEurope is the Pan-European association of plastics manufacturers with centres in Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Madrid, Milan and Paris. Our member companies represent more than 90% in volume of all plastics materials across the EU27 plus Norway, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK.

The plastics industry is going through some fundamental changes, focusing on the importance of circularity and sustainability. There has never been such an exciting time as now to be part of this transformation.

We are looking for a Communications Intern for at least 6 months (up to 12), paid internship (Contrat d’Immersion Professionnelle) to support our communications activities; the internship is based in Brussels.


We are looking for a highly motivated, dymanic and well organised individual who is looking to gain hands-on experience in communications and (social) media relations, engaging with stakeholders, as well as issue-specific knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft news stories for the website, newsletters and content for social media platforms;
  • Supporting media relations efforts;
  • Monitor media, social media and events;
  • Scout for new ideas and propose storylines, and tools for the Communications Department;
  • Support in virtual and physical events organisation and to the Communications Team in general.

Requirements:

  • A (post) graduate degree (or in the pursuit of finalising it), preferably in Communications and Public Relations, Journalism and (Digital) Media, Marketing, Political Science or similar;
  • Previous, related work experience in communications, including campaigning and storytelling is an asset;
  • Knowledge and interest in EU Affairs;
  • Strong research skills with the ability to pay close attention to details;
  • Analytical skills and ability to digest complex information into concise and informative briefs;
  • Team player and able to work autonomously;
  • Quick learner, well-organised and able to deliver on time;
  • Native English speaker or equivalent;
  • Possession of an EU passport, student visa, or other means of residing in Belgium for the duration of the traineeship.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and video editing programmes is a plus;
  • Knowledge of other European languages is an asset.
