Description

ORGANIZATION
The Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) unites communities to save coral reefs. CORAL provides education, tools, and inspiration to help local communities become passionate environmental stewards of the reefs. Together, we develop well-managed marine protected areas and sustainable businesses to benefit coral reefs and people.

OPPORTUNITY
CORAL is currently recruiting an unpaid intern for the spring of 2012 to implement and expand our social media campaigns on Facebook and Twitter. This position offers a unique chance to learn from the communications and development teams of an international environmental non-profit, while building an informed and engaged community interested in CORAL's mission.
Responsibilities of this intern will include, but are not limited to, researching appropriate posts for our social media program, posting updates, and responding to inquiries from our community. We expect the intern to work approximately 6-8 hours per week from mid-February through the end of May. Depending on the individual's success, there is an opportunity for the position to evolve into a paid internship during the summer.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
We are looking for an undergraduate or graduate student with the following qualifications and experience:
• Strong writing and research skills
• Interest in and experience with social media
• Understanding of coral reef biology and/or ocean conservation required, with previous coursework in oceanography preferred
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment
• Commitment to CORAL's mission

Qualified and interested applicants should send a cover letter, highlighting your interest and experience, and a resume to sfreiermuth@coral.org. We look forward to having you join our team!
