The Wilderness Society (TWS) is a national non-profit organization whose mission is to protect wilderness and inspire Americans to care for our wild places. We believe public lands belong to and should benefit all of us. We strive to ensure our organization and work embodies the cultures and perspectives of people and communities across our nation, and connects and inspires people to care about the outdoors.
Students looking to burnish their public relations, writing and journalism skills will find our Communications Department to be a fast-paced, high-energy place where they can learn about the environmental community and how The Wilderness Society works to protect the country’s most important public lands and natural resources. Our interns roll up their sleeves to research critical environmental issues, craft press releases, author editorials and pitch both bloggers and traditional journalists. The Wilderness Society offers communications interns hands-on opportunities to strategize with Policy and Government Affairs staff, influence public opinion and protect America’s wild places. Interns will be immersed in wilderness and energy policy from day one, and will be involved in:
