Description

Earthjustice, the nonprofit law firm for the environment, currently has an opening for a Part-time Communications Assistant.  Earthjustice works through the courts to safeguard public lands, national forests, parks, and wilderness areas; to reduce air and water pollution; to prevent toxic contamination; and to preserve endangered species and wildlife habitat. Founded in 1971 as Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund, Earthjustice has played a leading role in shaping the development of environmental law.

Position Description
Responsible for fulfilling the communications department's administrative needs.  Includes providing general department support, handling the press and PSA tracking, managing the internship program, coordinating department meetings and internal communications, coordinating Earthjustice products, and assisting with events.

Major Responsibilities

·  General office administrative support and press assistance.
·  Search for and record Earthjustice news hits.
·  Manage the department's Intern Program.
·  Manage the communications section of Earthjustice's intranet site
·  Assist in organizing departmental retreats and other meetings
·  Develop new products as needed and integrate them into the marketing program
·  Manage product inventory and distribution
·  Make reservations for events, organized the shipping of event materials and coordinate booth management

Personal Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree with 1-2 years experience in office administration  within a nonprofit setting and demonstrated commitment to environmental protection.   Must possess excellent organizational skills including attention to detail, good recordkeeping, responsible time management, and the ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.   Experience with Microsoft Office, such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Good oral and written communication skills are needed. Strong interpersonal skills a plus.
