Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

Our work in the energy sector is very high profile and attracts considerable public, media and political attention and scrutiny. So we place great importance on effective stakeholder engagement to ensure that we communicate well with a diverse range of audiences, and that we listen to feedback to evaluate the impact and influence of our work. We now have an opportunity for a Communications & Stakeholder Assistant Manager to work within our E-Serve, Energy Efficiency and Social Programmes team. It’s an opportunity to work on a high profile energy efficiency scheme that can directly help millions of UK energy consumers and make a real difference to tackling climate change. Your work will also cover our social programmes which have delivered over £1billion in rebates to fuel poor households in Britain and further rebates to the wider public.

You’ll take responsibility for a wide range of communications activities, so you can expect to contribute to stakeholder engagement strategies, and to be tasked with identifying ways to enhance how we develop and improve our use of different communication channels. You’ll liaise closely with our Central Communications team to manage press and political enquiries, and play a lead role in the planning and delivery of stakeholder events.

This is a dynamic, fast-paced role and it’s important that you are confident in managing a busy workload and delivering to deadlines - you’ll need excellent planning and co-ordination skills to achieve this. We expect that you’ll also have excellent written and verbal communications skills, and that you can be a credible advisor to technical and policy experts. Previous experience in developing stakeholder engagement strategies and communications plans is essential as well as practical knowledge of providing stakeholder support and organising stakeholder events. It’s important that you demonstrate an appreciation of the challenges and requirements of a political or social policy setting when setting and delivering communications strategies.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

  • Up to 30 days’ annual leave
  • Excellent training and development opportunities
  • The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits
  • Flexible working hours and family friendly policies
  • Subsidised gym and restaurant
  • Interest free season ticket loan
