Description

The Organic Research Centre is looking to appoint a Communication Assistant to support communications for Agricology which is a web-based knowledge platform for practical information on sustainable farming, aiming to encourage farmers and growers to use more agroecological approaches. The job holder will play a key role in promoting new, seasonally relevant content and engaging a wider audience to grow the Agricology community.

S/he will be responsible for the day-to-day running of Agricology social media including: promoting website content, scheduling social media posts, organising Instagram takeovers and producing a monthly video blog. In addition, s/he will support the Project Manager with additional administrative tasks as required. The post will report to the Project Manager.

The candidate will possess an HND or BSc in agriculture or related subject. Knowledge of sustainable farming in a research or technical context and previous experience working with social media is essential. Some research communication and/or journalism experience would be desirable.

S/he should have excellent communication skills and knowledge of various social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Flickr). Photography and/or video skills would be advantageous. The candidate should have an independent, proactive and positive approach and a willingness to take on additional duties as required.

The successful candidate will be based at Daylesford, Kingham, Gloucestershire (with one day per week spent at the Organic Research Centre near Newbury) and must be prepared to travel in the UK when necessary. A part-time role may also be considered, please state in your covering letter if this is of interest.
