The Advisory Committee on Pesticides (ACP) was established under the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 to give independent advice to Ministers on all matters relating to the control of pests. Members provide scientific advice to the Government and Devolved Administrations on the safe and effective use of pesticides and other pest control methods. Defra is seeking four members to join the ACP with expertise in the following specific areas: - Role 1: Ecotoxicology with expertise in terrestrial risk (particularly vertebrates).
- Role 2: Public Health, epidemiology and toxicology, with a good understanding of extrapolation from animal studies to human health risk assessments for chemicals.
- Role 3: Pesticide Residues - including their metabolism in plants and livestock.
- Role 4: Occupational Exposure Assessment.
