The Project Manager has the overall responsibility to ensure that Commercial Projects are completed successfully, projects costs are managed to budget, and the schedule is completed in accordance with the contract milestones. The Project Manager oversees and leads the project cross functional team including legal, contracts administration, interconnection and rebates, engineering, purchasing, logistics, and direct hire construction from time of project contracting to its completion. The Project Manager acts as the REC authorized representative with responsibility for overall project contact administration and client management. The Project Management manages and directs Project Management staff including Assistant Project Managers and Project Administrators.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
 
1.    Manage large (Multi-Megawatt) commercial solar projects in public and private sector
2.    Own specific projects from cradle to grave with P&L responsibility for owned projects;
3.    Lead cross-functional project teams in implementing commercial solar electric systems;
4.    Build, manage, and communicate project schedules;
5.    Evaluate project resource needs ensuring supply of materials and labor;
6.    Develop and execute project risk management plans;
7.    Manage stakeholder communications i.e. with customers, project team members, senior management, vendors, etc.;
8.    Manage engineering and construction management resources assigned to specific projects;
9.    Ensure that projects are completed on time, on budget; safely and fully meet customer expectations.
 
 Basic Qualifications
 
1.    Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field;
2.    5 -10 years of experience managing specialty construction projects in both public and private sectors, federally contracted construction management experience highly desirable
3.    Experience leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment;
4.    Ability to interpret and proceed according to construction contracts;
5.    Organizational and customer service skills
6.    Good judgment and analytical skills
7.    Ability to prioritize and complete a variety of simultaneous tasks with a high level of organization;
8.    Communicate information effectively, both orally and in writing within REC Solar and clients;
9.    Posses strong work ethic and willingness to put in the time necessary to maintain an effective schedule that matches the needs of the client
10.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings;
11.Some experience with financial valuation and/or budgeting;
12.Outstanding skill with MS Project and MS Windows applications.
 
 Preferred Qualifications
 
1.    Formal leadership and process management training as well as at least 5 years experience in a primary leadership role
2.    Experience in navigating municipal, state and federal jurisdictions to obtain project design and construction plan approvals
3.    Experience in compliance with Federal contracts, processes, documentation and onsite training requirements
4.    Electrical construction/contracting background with large commercial projects;
5.    Knowledge of solar electric systems and/or power generation and distribution;
6.    Experience with implementing solar electric systems;
7.    PMP or NPDP certification;
8.    Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
