Research Planning, Inc. (RPI) has a position open for a Coastal/Marine Ecologist in our Columbia, SC office. Qualifications include a Ph.D. or a M.S. with several years of experience in coastal or marine ecology. You must have strong field skills as well as knowledge of statistical applications. Good writing and communication skills are essential. It would be great if you were bilingual.

The initial projects you will work on are: 1) monitoring of a large international coastal restoration project that will be restoring beaches, tidal flats, and salt marshes over a three-year period; 2) compilation of data on distribution, abundance, seasonality, and life history for coastal and marine resources; and 3) natural resource damage assessments.

Please browse our Web site to find out more about RPI, our staff, our recent projects, and clients.

We are currently doing a study of the lingering oil in Prince William Sound, 18 years after the Exxon Valdez oil spill; we have generated maps and databases for the coastal resources for the entire U.S. coastal zone, including all of Alaska and the Great Lakes; and we have conducted projects in over 50 countries. You will see that we are a great team of scientists and GIS specialists who work on a wide range of projects associated with environmental protection and management. We have been in business since 1977. We work throughout the U.S. and internationally, and our major clients are the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Park Service, Minerals Management Service, States of South Carolina, California, Florida, and Texas, and U.S. Agency for International Development.
