Project Description
The ECCET Unit (Economics of Climate Change, Energy and Transport) has a vacancy for a post-doctoral researcher to work on the ICPA-SEI (Integrated Climate Policy Assessment-Scenarios and Economic Impact) project. This action is currently studying and assessing the economic impact of climate change. A focus is given to the analysis of climate-change induced economic damages with/without adaptive measures, the monetization of these damages and the cross-sectoral comparison of the impact at stake.The successful candidate will contribute to European-wide research projects in the field of environment/climate change economics, with a particular emphasis on the cost-benefit analysis of sector-specific adaptation policies. She/he will also contribute to the development and exploitation of detailed economic models, with the purpose of quantifying the sectoral damages induced by climate change and its impact onto the overall economic system, both at EU and global level.He/she should have experience with the toolbox for environmental policy assessment: macroeconomis, cost/benefit analysis and welfare analysis. Computer programming, statistics, computer science, numerical optimization techniques, and the fundamentals of quantitative resource/energy economics are highly valued.Candidates must hold a doctoral degree or having fulfilled all the obligations to obtain a PhD (certified by the university) or having a minimum of 5 years research experience after the first university degree giving access to doctoral studies (which may include periods of training such as a masters degree) in a field relevant to the JRC's scientific activities.A very good level of written and spoken English is essential and knowledge of at least one other EU language is compulsory.
