The RHS has just launched a major investment programme in Science with a new five year ornamental horticultural science strategy which will deliver a major step-change in the quality of our independent and collaborative scientific research.

As part of this investment programme we are now looking to recruit a Climate Scientist. This completely new role will take forward research and understanding of the impact of climate change on gardens and horticulture, using currently available climate models and through collaboration with other research organisations. A key element of the role will be interpreting the models and information on climate change to a wider audience, and supporting the advisory services of the RHS. Practical applications will include developing plans to manage long-term impacts of climate change on the four RHS gardens.

Applicants should have a PhD or MSc in meteorology or related subject and an understanding of computer models for climate forecasting or prediction, as well as experience in presenting and publishing scientific research. An interest in or understanding of horticulture or plant sciences will be of value, as well as evidence of communicating to audiences of varied technical ability.

We offer a wide range of benefits as part of your employment package which include 25 days holiday and life assurance.

Apply by completing the RHS Application Form and send with your CV and a covering note highlighting how you match the knowledge, experience and skills requirements of the role to:recruitment@rhs.org.uk.

All applications should be received by 4pm, Friday 13 November 2015.
