The Climate Positive Development Program was created to meet the dual challenge of rapid urban growth and climate change by setting a new global benchmark for leadership in large-scale urban development. Launched in May 2009 by the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) in partnership with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the program supports the development of large-scale urban projects that will demonstrate that cities can grow in ways that are "climate positive," striving to reduce the amount of on-site CO2 emissions to below zero. Specific program deliverables include project technical support, business and financial analysis, partnership facilitation, an online interactive community, and programmatic recognition of achievement.
About CCI/C40:
The Climate Positive Development Program is component of the new CCI/C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, an organization of large and engaged cities from around the world committed to implementing meaningful and sustainable climate-related policies and programs locally that will help address climate change concerns globally.
Volunteer Opportunity:
The Climate Positive Web Volunteer will assist the development of a new intranet communication portal for the Climate Positive Development Program. The intranet portal will connect seventeen pilot developments around the world, facilitate the communication of best-practices, coordinate programmatic activities, and house all application materials as part of the new recognition process. In addition, the intranet will enable development partners to collaborate more effectively with members of the technical resource panel and accelerate the pace of deliverables.
We seek a highly motivated individual with outstanding knowledge of information technologies (IT) and communication skills. The volunteer must be able to function independently. This opportunity to assist will be based in the San Francisco or Boston area with very limited travel expected.
Needed 15 hours a week, with flexible hours as the work is largely project-based. Opportunity begins immediately and will run through August, with an option to extend upon mutual request.
