The INTASAVE Group is a leading global not-for-profit organisation that innovates, connects and implements
practical solutions for sustainable development and climate change. INTASAVE works with governments, scientists, practitioners and communities to enable a future world which provides an equitable and sustainable future for all and can respond effectively to the challenges and opportunities of climate change. Our work covers a range of relevant fields (climate risk and resilience, low carbon energy for development, biodiversity and ecosystem-based adaptation), and our donors include DFID, UNEP, World Bank, USAID, IDRC/CRDI and the Inter-American Development Bank. INTASAVE’s 45+ technical specialists and programme managers work from a network of offices across seven different countries (Jamaica, Barbados, UK, Nairobi, South Africa, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing).

Project Development & Research Internship Duties:
|
INTASAVE is seeking a pro-active and self-motivated professional who can take forward two areas of work; developing high quality, effective climate communications products, and developing a range of exciting climate change and sustainable development initiatives. The successful applicant would be expected to participate actively in communications work, project research, development and management tasks related to our Africa programme, reporting to the Regional Director for Africa. Additional tasks related to the Group’s work in other regions such as Asia-Pacific or the Caribbean may also be undertaken on an ad hoc basis. This is unique opportunity to develop a broad range of technical, research and fundraising skills in the area of climate change and international development by working directly on project management and development within a dynamic not-for-profit organisation.
Project assignments will depend on the successful applicants’ interests, skills and experience and the work available at the time. The candidate will be expected to conduct communications tasks, project management, desk research, donor outreach and research assistance. Examples of specific assignments include:

Selection Criteria
|
Minimum Criteria
- · A minimum of a Honors degree in Sustainable Development, Environmental Studies, Geography, Climate Change or related subject
- · Professional experience
- · Self-motivated and passionate about the subject of climate change and sustainable international development
- · Ability to review, analyse and synthesise detailed and technical documents and reports
- · Demonstrated ability to speak and write professionally in English
- · Ability to work independently with strong sense of initiative, discipline and self-motivation
- · A flexible, methodical and conscientious approach to work
- · Advanced computer skills in all Microsoft Office packages (for presentations, spread sheets, etc.)
Desirable Criteria
- · Masters degree or equivalent in Sustainable Development, Environmental Studies, Dryland Environments, International Development, Climate Change or related subject
- · Knowledge and research experience in sustainable development and climate change issues, preferably in southern and East Africa
- · Experience of communications
- · Experience of fundraising and proposal writing
- · Experience of working in multi-cultural and interdisciplinary teams
- · Creative skills such as experience of design software, science communication, video editing, managing
