Background:

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a wide range of climate change mitigation and adaptation projects with partners at County level, linking to the regional Climate East Midlands work programme. There will be a particular focus on ‘natural interventions’ for adaptation, assisting in the implementation of the countywide partnership climate change annual action plan, and raising awareness of local actions and activities through a new ‘showcase’ website.

Objective:

To develop, manage and deliver a number of climate change adaptation and mitigation projects in line with the partnership Climate Change Strategy for Northamptonshire and the partnership Towards a Naturally Resilient Northamptonshire - Action Plan, including ongoing engagement with Climate East Midlands, the Regional Climate Change Partnership.

Employment Potential and Options Post Project Work:

This opportunity is a fixed term contract until March 2014, however, subject to funding there is a possibility of extension.

Outputs:

The post holder will work collectively with the other Project Officers in a team under the auspices of Climate East Midlands.

Under the overall guidance and direction of the Head of Environmental Management, the post holder will:

1. Develop and manage projects coming out of the partnership Climate Change Strategy for Northamptonshire and the partnership Towards a Naturally Resilient Northamptonshire - Action Plan.

2. Work in collaboration with officers within the Climate East Midlands (CEM) to assist the development and delivery of carbon reduction and mitigation projects.

3. Further develop and embed the Council’s work on adaptation in line with the joint programme agreed with CEM.
