Climate Change Policy Leader
USAID/Mexico LEDS (MLEDS)

Development Alternatives, Inc. USAID is working with a number of countries to develop Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS); LEDS are country-wide strategies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions while promoting economic growth. DAI seeks an Climate Change Policy Leader for a new 5 year, $30 million dollar USAID/Mexico LEDS project (MLEDS), Mexico’s Reduced Emissions from Deforestation and Degradation, and will be a key component of USAID/Mexico’s broader Global Climate Change (GCC) Program. The purpose of the program is to facilitate and promote the development and implementation of a LEDS for Mexico in order to reduce the country’s GHG emissions without compromising its economic and social development.

Responsibilities:

The Climate Change Policy Leader will oversee project activities to create an enabling environment that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and foster economic and social development, including development of government policies, creation of a monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) regime, and promotion of an active carbon market in Mexico.
