Description

The Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Economic Governance (AIPEG) is a Government of Australia funded project assisting Indonesia in undertaking economic and financial policy reforms. SMEC International, the Managing Contractor, seeks applications for a qualified Climate Change Policy Adviser for a part-time role in Jakarta, Indonesia. The role is suited to 2-3 days per week up until December 2017.

 

The successful candidate will provide strategic advice and analysis on high-profile climate change policy and related issues, with a specific focus on analysing climate change policies that will support the implementation of Indonesia’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC). The Adviser is expected to enhance the role of the Ministry of Finance on its work with related stakeholders, including other Ministries and Agencies, in the implementation of Indonesia’s commitment on climate change issues.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA

The candidate will possess strong qualifications and experience to support climate change analysis and policy making processes, including:

  • A minimum of 10 years’ professional and related academic experience working on climate change policy and related economic issues. An understanding of fiscal issues related to climate change is also desirable.
  • A graduate degree in environmental studies, economic/public policy and related areas is preferable.
  • Understanding of the GOI policy making process and familiarity of government decision-making mechanisms. Experience working with high level government officials and engaging with various stakeholders in disseminating and communicating government policies.
  • Excellent written communication skills with fluency in Bahasa Indonesia and English (both written and oral), including advocacy and presentation skills.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration is set according to the AIPEG National Remuneration Framework. Remuneration for the position may be set to a National Consultancy Level C3, with a starting gross monthly salary of IDR 82,547,000 paid at the agreed part-time equivalent rate. Increases in remuneration are dependent on the applicant’s skills and experience.
