Description

Do you want to play a key role in a growing, experienced and passionate team supporting and shaping CARE International UK’s Climate Change portfolio? Join the Programme Quality Team!

Why work for us?

The Programme Quality Team is at the centre of CIUK’s new strategy for the delivery of high quality and impactful programming within CARE.  The team delivers high quality technical assistance to CARE offices around the world in the areas of Women’s Economic Justice, Inclusive Governance, Emergency Shelter and Gender and Resilience. The team also provides thought leadership, learning as well as a global perspective to CARE programmes.

CIUK’s efforts on climate change and resilience help people who are most vulnerable to climate change in developing countries, often women, improve their ability to deal with climate impacts and natural disasters. Our efforts are through programming that directly supports communities and people negatively affected by climate change, and through advocacy and campaigning for climate justice and gender justice. The CIUK Gender & Resilience team provides technical advisory support to a range of programmes in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and also contributes to the CARE confederation’s global policy and advocacy work. Here we embrace the humanitarian-development-peace nexus – focused on reducing demand for humanitarian assistance by addressing its root causes which lie in poverty, inequality, poor governance and denial of human rights.

About You

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the CIUK team to play a leading role in coordinating CARE’s efforts in the lead-up to the UNFCCC COP26 conference and provide technical thought leadership and support to CARE’s climate change programming in developing countries.

We are looking for a highly organised, confident and personable individual to join the team who can manage a diverse workload. You will have knowledge and experience of climate change programming in developing countries, particularly in regions that are significantly impacted by climate change and natural disasters. As well as having good analytical skills and being self-motivated, you will also be passionate about tackling the injustice of climate change and keen to engage in the global policy arena in this very critical year for the UK and the UNFCCC process.
