Description

Are you committed to reducing Wiltshire’s carbon footprint? Would you like to work with schools and communities in Wiltshire to make them more sustainable as part of a European-funded partnership project?

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join the council's ECO Team to lead a unique partnership project in Wiltshire. The Sustainable Energy Across the Common Space project (SEACS) is funded by Interreg IV(A) Programme, and Wiltshire Council will be working in partnership with Devon County Council, Dorset County Council, Lannion Tregor Agglomeration, and Conseil General des Cotes d’Armor (both French partners are in Brittany). In Wiltshire, the project will work with schools on energy efficiency / renewable energy projects, using the schools’ experience as a catalyst for the local community.

You will need to be pro-active, solution-focused, politically sensitive and have strong negotiation and interpersonal skills. A team player, you will need to establish good relationships across our schools and communities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a successful track record in leading project teams and partnership working, who also has experience in the field of sustainability or climate change. Ideally, you will also have experience of European projects and some French language skills.

This post will require extensive travel across Wiltshire as well as some work outside office hours. There will be occasional travel to the other partner authorities.

The post is a fixed-term contract until September 2014 and can be offered to internal candidates on a secondment basis.

For an informal discussion about this post please call Ariane Crampton (Head of Climate Change) on 01225 718463 or 07879 661084.

If successful, you’ll be required to apply for a Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau.

Interviews will be held on 22 September.
