Purpose The Environmental Sciences Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a broadly trained scientist who is interested in quantifying the complex interrelationships among energy production and fossil fuel use, climate change impacts, and potential adaptation strategies. Opportunities exist to address (1) mitigation and adaptation to environmental and climate change, (2) science-policy interactions and the development of decision-support tools, and (3) uncertainties in the human dimensions of environmental change. Major Duties/Responsibilities ORNL scientists have a demonstrated history in climate science, carbon emissions associated with fossil fuel combustion, resource analysis, and the social and economic consequences of climate change at local to global scales. ORNL is committed to conducting science that supports solutions and that informs decision-makers and stakeholders. Scientists working in these areas are supported by high-performance computing, geospatial analysis, and advanced visualization capabilities. |
