The ECCo Climate Change Ecologist will work with ECCo staff and Chicago region climate change scientists to advance mitigation and adaptation strategies for priority conservation targets in the Chicago region. In this capacity the Ecologist works as part of ECCo project teams, focusing on regional approaches to achieving short and long term goals of the CW Climate Change Action Plan for Nature and the Biodiversity Recovery Plan.
Job Duties
Responsibilities include:
Develop and implement climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies for priority Chicago region conservation targets in accordance with the CW Climate Change Action Plan for Nature and the CW Biodiversity Recovery Plan (Project level, species level, community level, etc.)
Communicate scientific and technical information on Climate Change to priority audiences through documents, presentations and other means as appropriate
Provide scientific guidance and support to ECCo project management, government agency partners, internal audiences, and corporate partners
Participate in ECCo's climate change work related to the carbon market especially focusing on local issues.
Review and evaluate climate change literature to provide informed advice to Field Museum staff and the CW Climate Change Task Force
Assist in the development of Field Museum climate change events, exhibits, and other programming
Qualifications
PhD required in Ecology, Botany, Zoology, or related field
Experience in working on climate change issues related to biodiversity
Ability to thrive in a team environment
Demonstrated writing and communications skills
