What you’ll need

  • Education:  Master's degree in environmental sciences, economics, natural resource management or relevant disciplines, execution and management of operations related to development and climate change.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Working or academic experience with issues related to climate change resilience and environmental sustainability will be strongly preferred. Experience with implementation of projects in Latin-America and the Caribbean region is highly desirable. Experience working with multilateral institutions and preparing projects including both for the public and private sector on climate change, ideally with international sources of climate finance is desirable. Must have an advanced understanding of climate change and sustainability issues in the Caribbean region. Must have an in-depth understanding of development and/or implementing Blue Economy projects. Must have an advanced understanding of climate and biodiversity financing.
  • Languages: Fluent in English and being desirable also Spanish.

Key skills: 

  • Excellent communication skills, including written and oral forms.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex concepts and prepare reports that are clear, concise, and meaningful.
  • Ability to develop, analyze and articulate project issues and identify creative and practical approaches to overcome challenging situations.
  • Analytic capacity and ability to assess project outputs and relevant findings.
  • Team player, self-starter and ability to work under limited supervision while maintaining good relationships internally and externally.

Requirements:

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. 
  • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB Group.

  • Type of contract and modality: Consultant Full Time (CNS).
  • Length of contract: 19 months.
  • Work Location: On Site.
