CDP is seeking 2 motivated interns to join its ‘data team’, part of CDP’s technical team that also develops the annual CDP questionnaires and scores companies on their responses, to work on collecting, cleaning and modeling key metrics related to corporate climate change. The outcomes of this work will be packaged into CDP’s data offerings for investors and other relevant stakeholders to apply in making more informed decisions.
The internships will be at CDP's London office and the successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in one or more of the following areas:
applying data science techniques to corporate climate change data;
bottom-up GHG emissions modeling for high-emitting industries; or
assessing corporate target setting for veracity against a 1.5-2C transition pathway.
It will provide a valuable experience for anyone looking to build a career in the areas of:
data science;
ESG analysis; or
GHG emissions accounting.
The internship will necessitate the manual collection of data from a diverse array of sources; the successful candidate will support with the collection, quality review, standardization, storage (SQL server) and analyses (using R, SQL and/or Excel) of these data. The positions will be guided by the data analysts with overview and direction from the technical manager. The successful candidates will have:
An undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant field of study;
Exceptional analytical and numeracy skills;
Ability to work with large datasets in a methodical manner and to document approaches clearly and concisely;
Technologically savvy with an appetite to learn more. At minimum highly proficient in MS Excel; knowledge of statistical software packages (especially R) or SQL a distinct advantage.
Capable of working independently as well as part of a team; and
A desire to make a positive impact through transparency and data.
These are intern positions for 3-5 days per week (specifics can be discussed), lasting for 3 months and starting as soon as possible. Please note that these roles are unpaid, but lunch and travel expenses within London will be reimbursed.
