University of Alaska Fairbanks Cooperative Extension Service is the state's gateway to its university system, Extension serves some 60,000 Alaskans annually, providing a link between Alaska's diverse people and communities by interpreting and extending relevant university, research-based knowledge in an understandable and usable form to the public. Major program areas include agriculture and horticulture; health, home and family development; natural resources and community development; and 4-H and youth development.

This position will be housed within our Communications Unit in the Fairbanks State Office and will be responsible for a variety of communications tasks that address specific tactical needs of Extension's climate change outreach.  

-Knowledge of communications best practices
-Strong computer software skills
-Ability to apply knowledge of specialty area or subject matter
-Experience creating printed materials, web pages, electronic media materials, visual images, and interactive multimedia materials in support of specific communications goals
-Knowledge of methods and techniques for conducting needs assessment
-Knowledge of cross cultural communications
-Knowledge of grant writing processes
-Knowledge of outreach techniques
-Ability to design and work effectively with electronic delivery systems like 'You Tube', 'Flicker', blogs and web sites
-Ability to conduct needs assessments, surveys and interviews
