Description
|
DAI seeks experienced Chiefs of Party for anticipated USAID funded projects related to Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in Latin America and the Caribbean. The projects will be designed to strengthen the capacities of countries to achieve sustainable results in the areas of: climate change adaptation and/or mitigation, natural resources management, conservation finance, reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity conservation, disaster risk reduction, coastal climate change, urban and rural land use planning, WASH and/or water resource management.
The Chief of Party will provide technical direction and overall leadership of the projects. Responsibilities include:
- Management of project implementation, including establishing a project vision and oversight of workplans, leading to the timely provision of high quality deliverables as well as the achievement of intermediate results and programmatic objectives
- Serving as principal liaison and DAI representative with USAID, host country counterparts, donors, subcontractors, local implementing partners, and local government officials
- Coordination with home office staff
- Timely and accurate reporting to USAID
Candidate Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of experience in positions of increasing responsibility leading large, multi-disciplinary teams on complex development programs in the areas of natural resource management, forestry, climate change and/or integrated rural development (required);at least 5 of which in countries with active forestry and/or REDD+ international development programming (preferred)
- Prior experience in managing USAID programs and strong knowledge of USAID policies and systems (strongly preferred)
- Ability to conceive and lead creative collaboration between project, community, government, and private sector in a mutually beneficial and sustainable manner
- Dynamic and flexible relationship building skills including experience building consensus among diverse actors
- Demonstrated ability to engage equally comfortably and productively with senior USAID officials, USG and host country government representatives, community leaders, and private sector (finance and agribusiness a plus)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish
- Advanced degree in natural resources management, forestry, environmental sciences, international development, political science, anthropology or business administration
