CARE International is one of the three biggest aid agencies in the world.  Reaching more than 65 million people in over 70 countries, our aim is to create long-lasting and sustainable change for the world’s most vulnerable people.

Climate Change is a strategic priority for CARE International (CI) and at the top of its global advocacy agenda.  A large and growing number of CARE offices are engaged in Climate Change initiatives and are working together through its thriving CARE Poverty, Environment and Climate Change Network (PECCN).

CARE International UK is looking to recruit a Climate Change and Hunger Team Leader to lead its work in this area and to manage the work of a Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Coordinator in Nairobi and a Hunger Advisor in London. With a primary focus on climate change adaptation, the post holder will lead on managing existing projects and developing funding proposals for new initiatives as well as providing support to integrate climate change into existing and planned programmes and strategies. The role will involve networking and policy engagement in the UK and there will be a strong team emphasis on networking within CI, on climate change with PECCN, as well as with other parts of the confederation on hunger/food security and DRR.

You will have experience of developing, implementing and effectively monitoring and evaluating field-based programmes relevant to climate change adaptation.  You will also have a proven ability in using programmatic analysis to help develop policy influencing, campaigning and wider communications work for climate change and other related fields.  You will need excellent communications and networking skills, and a proven track record as a people and process manager.  The ability to work in Spanish and or Portuguese would be an advantage.
