RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
 
  • Develops and executes strategies to broaden support in New Hampshire for action on TNC’s climate and energy priorities (e.g. expanding clean energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable energy siting).
  • Strengthens TNC’s role as a strong, credible and bipartisan partner on energy and climate solutions in New Hampshire.
  • Conducts research and represents TNC with government officials, the business sector, nonprofit community, media, funders and other audiences.  .
  • Creates new, and strengthens existing, partnerships with other organizations in the non-profit and private sectors.
  • May manage projects and teams on a broad range of subjects related to climate and energy policy such as public opinion surveys and economic analysis.
  • Convenes and facilitates external meetings to deepen understanding of climate change impacts and to advance solutions.
  • Monitors legislative, regulatory and administrative developments and coordinates action on policy opportunities, as appropriate.
  • Develops strategies for engaging media (e.g., earned, paid, social) in support of climate action and TNC's climate and energy policy priorities.
  • Shares information and coordinates strategy with TNC staff in other state, regional and worldwide office programs.
  • Financial responsibility may include working within/managing a budget to complete projects, negotiating and contracting with vendors, and assisting with budget development.
  • Ensures program compliance with internal policies and external requirements including federal lobbying laws and regulations
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
  • Bachelor’s degree and 4 years related experience or equivalent combination.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Experience presenting to and/or communicating with business, government or legislative staff and/or program leadership.
  • Experience in designing, implementing and directing multiple complex projects and ensuring program accountability.
  • Communications experience including preparing and presenting project proposals, and developing written communications.
  • Experience working with corporate or NGO partners, and government agencies. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Supervisory experience, including ability to set objectives and manage performance.
  • Familiarity with social, economic and political conditions and issues in New Hampshire.
  • Experience coordinating projects in a decentralized organization, working across teams, operating units and functions to achieve optimal results. 
  • Outstanding written and oral communication, negotiating and organizational skills.
  • Experience building networks and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
  • Self-starting, independent worker who can thrive with minimal oversight.

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with the Conservancy's Auto Safety Program. Employees may not drive Conservancy-owned/leased vehicles, rental cars, or personal vehicles on behalf of the Conservancy if considered "high risk drivers." Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.
