Make a real difference in the New Year!

This is a great opportunity to make a real difference by leading the behaviour change theme of the University of Bath’s Climate Action Framework, our whole institution response to the Climate Emergency.

In May, the University of Bath declared a Climate Emergency and set out 11 Climate Action Framework Principles to frame our response, including our commitment to being net zero carbon in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030, a 50% reduction in Scope 3 emissions by 2030, and net zero carbon by 2040.

A new Climate Action team is now being established, with a clear remit detailed in our Climate Action Framework. As this is a new role in a new team, it offers an exciting opportunity for you to shape the process, prioritising areas of focus and seeing a real impact from the project.

Under the leadership of the Climate Action Project Lead, you will take the key role in developing and delivering a University-wide behaviour change programme to reduce energy use and support transition to a low carbon community. This includes both staff carbon literacy and university wide behaviour change interventions, focusing on the behavioural aspects of energy use, and building on proven programmes (e.g. Carbon Literacy Project, Green Impact, S-Lab framework).

The Department of Psychology has a wealth of experience in the field of responding to climate change and the social transformations required. This role offers the opportunity of support from colleagues in this department, whilst looking for innovative ways to build research, learning and teaching opportunities into our approach.

This role would suit someone who is passionate about climate change and has a good understanding of running related behaviour change projects. You will need a strong understanding of the case for climate action, the ability to communicate this knowledge and excellent influencing skills, to facilitate change across our community.

This role is a full-time role, for a fixed-term period until July 2022.

Closing date: 10 January 2021.

Interviews will be held w/b 1 February 2021.
