Description

Having gained extensive experience of successfully advocating environmental policy change you are ready to step up to a bigger stage. This role of Climate and Energy Policy Manager in Scotland will provide you with the chance to impact the future of our planet by providing robust policy evidence to influence decision makers at all levels of government and the corporate sector.

This is an exciting fixed-term opportunity to be part of the team informing and implementing our strategy in Scotland. Our work has a well-deserved reputation for effectiveness and innovation and has impact across the UK and internationally. 2021 is an exciting year to join us, with new Scottish Government climate and energy strategies and elections taking place at Holyrood.

As Climate and Energy Policy Manager, you will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation and lead the delivery of policy research, positions and their advocacy. These will be designed to accelerate Scotland’s response to climate change and halve emissions every decade. Acting as our technical expert for climate and energy, you will develop our evidence base, manage supplier partners and provide understanding and analysis of relevant Scottish government policy and legislative activity. You will help formulate and deliver compelling messaging, be our climate and energy representative in printed media and advocate policy to wider stakeholders. You will also maintain our partnerships with coalitions, the public, private and third sectors to develop broad support for climate and energy policy priorities.

You will have significant experience of successfully advocating policy change to decision makers. You will possess in-depth knowledge of both UK and Scottish climate and energy policy as well as of Scotland including its institutions, political structures, , stakeholders and environment. We would expect you will have worked on energy, climate change or related issues in an NGO, the public or private sector or a research organisation too.

Experience of working on Scotland’s Climate Change Act or Scotland’s transition to renewable energy would be an advantage.

Highly organised, you will be good at balancing multiple requirements and can deliver under pressure. You will also have an eye for detail and exacting delivery standards coupled with excellent project management, interpersonal and communication skills.

A team player you are adept at overcoming obstacles and can demonstrate a passion for the natural world and WWF’s core mission.
