Chemonics seeks a clean energy technical lead for an anticipated multi-year, USAID-funded program in Mexico. The program is expected to support Mexican efforts to develop and implement a low-emissions development strategy and strengthen systems for monitoring, reporting, and verification of emissions across all emitting sectors of the economy as an integral part of USAID's broader global climate change program. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include:
Oversee policy, capacity-building, and financing investments related to the energy sector
Ensure cohesiveness of clean energy activities
Coordinate with the climate change technical lead on integrating clean energy aspects of low-emissions development strategy and monitoring, reporting, and verification
Qualifications:
Master's degree in relevant field of study; higher degree preferred
At least five years of experience working in the clean energy (renewable energy and/or energy efficiency) and climate change sector
Knowledge of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change policies and guidelines and such incentive mechanisms as the clean development mechanism and voluntary markets
Knowledge of Mexico's energy sector and climate change policies, laws, capacity constraints, and financing issues highly desirable
Demonstrated leadership, integrity, and versatility
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
Proven ability to develop and communicate a common vision among diverse partners
Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams
Fluency in Spanish
