Description

Global warming and energy are arguably the most critical environmental issues facing us today. It’s time for Pennsylvania – and the nation as a whole – to move away from dirty, dangerous sources of energy and toward clean energy such as wind and solar, and cut down on the amount of energy needed for our homes, businesses, and vehicles.

Pennsylvania is at the center of a national debate about our nation’s energy decisions. The Commonwealth is the third highest global warming polluting state in the nation. That’s not surprising considering Pennsylvania ranks fourth nationally for coal mining. To make matters worse, state incentives that promote renewable energy are all but depleted, and many of Pennsylvania’s clean energy laws and programs are on the chopping block in Harrisburg. Yet, we’re making inroads to become part of the solution instead of just the problem: we’re working to promote green building technology, build wind farms off the shores of Lake Erie, improve the Commonwealth’s solar programs, and much more.

Our Clean Energy Program Director will lead PennEnvironment’s efforts to win crucial votes for clean energy and clean air in Pennsylvania.  The Clean Energy Program Director will publish opinion pieces in major newspapers and on key websites; set up and speak at news conferences; organize town hall meetings and rallies; research and identify effective solutions to our critical energy problems; lobby lawmakers; and run citizen outreach campaigns to educate the public, build membership and raise money for our work. You’ll recruit interns, activists, and staff to work alongside you.
