If you’re looking to make a meaningful, long-lasting impact on the environmental challenges we’re facing today, apply to be the New Jersey Clean Energy Program Director.

You’ll work to promote a clean energy future for New Jersey and fight global warming.

Global warming and energy are arguably the most critical environmental issues facing us today. It’s time for New Jersey – and the nation as a whole – to move away from dirty, dangerous sources of energy and toward clean energy such as wind and solar, and cut down on the amount of energy needed for our homes, businesses, and vehicles.

New Jersey has become a clean energy leader. We have the most solar power per capita out of any state in the nation, and the second most overall.  We helped to found the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), an innovative regional anti-pollution program that caps global warming pollution from power plants. We have positioned ourselves to build off-shore wind power off the Jersey Shore. But now all of our progress is at risk has fossil fuel companies and politicians in Trenton are poised to turn back the clock. State solar incentives to promote clean, renewable energy continue to get raided; the Governor has pulled New Jersey out of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative; and other states are poised to beat New Jersey in the construction of off-shore wind. Environment New Jersey is working to uphold the state’s clean energy reputation by standing up for these programs that work, building up public support to counter these rollbacks, and expanding the state’s successes.

Our Clean Energy Program Director will lead Environment New Jersey’s efforts to win crucial votes for clean energy and clean air in New Jersey.  The Clean Energy Program Director will publish opinion pieces in major newspapers and on key websites; set up and speak at news conferences; organize town hall meetings and rallies; research and identify effective solutions to our critical energy problems; lobby lawmakers; and run citizen outreach campaigns to educate the public, build membership and raise money for our work. You’ll recruit interns, activists, and staff to work alongside you.

You’ll work with one of the leading environmental groups in New Jersey.

Environment New Jersey is a statewide, citizen-based environmental advocacy group.  Our professional staff combines independent research, citizen organizing, practical ideas and tough-minded advocacy to overcome the opposition of powerful special interests and win real results for New Jersey’s environment.
