The Choose Clean Water Coalition is an NWF-housed coalition of more than 200 organizations built around a common agenda to protect and restore the rivers and streams that make up the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. We seek a Communications Manager to work primarily on external communications and member communications capacity building for the Choose Clean Water Coalition as well as limited communications work for the NWF's Chesapeake Mid-Atlantic Regional Center.

The External Communications responsibilities for the Choose Clean Water Coalition Communications Manager include drafting and distributing press releases, op-eds, and managing coalition press events; building relationships with Bay-oriented journalists in the watershed; managing the external content and media relations portion of the coalition website; assisting in the purchase of targeted paid media by the coalition and its members; drafting communications materials including brochures, presentations and other tools to support coalition fundraising and funder relationships; soliciting opportunities for coalition staff and members to meet with media outlets and public events; and making public presentations about the work and priorities of the coalition.

Communications Capacity Building for the Choose Clean Water Coalition Communications Manager position include coordinating the messaging and media activities of coalition members; building and distributing tools for the use of individual coalition members in their work to advance the coalition’s policy agenda, including sample press releases, op-eds, LTE's and public/media presentations. Conducting trainings and workshops to assist communications staff of coalition member organizations to build communications capacity on shared policy priorities and assisting individual coalition members with local media work and events to advance policy agenda are also essential. The Choose Clean Water Coalition Communications Manager will also provide support for the Regional Center, assisting NWF regional center in general communications work, including drafting press releases, op-eds, columns and newsletter content; assisting in the development of content and marketing for regional office website, facebook and other social media outlets; assisting in the development of materials and presentations to support development and fundraising for the regional office; serving as regional office liaison between the regional office, the coalition and NWF's national communications team.
