Chief Technical Advisor REDD/Carbon Liberia Benefits Package: USD 80,000 - USD 85,000 per annum (to include salary, accommodation allowance and medical and repatriation insurance) FFI has been working closely with the Government of Liberia, in particular Liberia’s Forest Development Authority (FDA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as well as its partners Conservation International (CI), the IUCN and Liberia’s civil society, to strengthen Liberian REDD/Carbon capacity, raise awareness and put in place the enabling policy and legislative frameworks and processes for REDD/Carbon project development. FFI is now seeking a creative, energetic and results-orientated individual with an established international reputation in institutional development and strong skills in REDD/Carbon and pro-poor forest management to act as the chief technical advisor and driving force behind the development of a truly innovative portfolio of avoided deforestation projects in Liberia. The Chief Technical Advisor REDD/Carbon Liberia will assure the delivery of the NORAD funded project “Developing a pro-poor REDD structure in Liberia; Creating real world pilot projects to guide national policy development” and its alignment with similar initiatives from FFI’s partners in Liberia. In addition s/he will provide carbon advisory services to other FFI REDD/Carbon projects as agreed. The successful applicant will have strong practical experience in the development of pro-poor REDD/Carbon policies, legislation and regulations in accordance with international best practice, as well as experience in strengthening institutional collaboration and CBOs in the forest sector. S/he will have a degree or equivalent level qualification in a relevant discipline such as carbon science, forest conservation, environmental economics or other related discipline and/or substantial experience in a related role. In addition, s/he will have strategic vision and leadership, and excellent communication and administrative skills. Experience in the West-Africa region will be an advantage. |
