Description

As a legal global company, my client has advanced into the wind power generation market over the last few years and are already establishing themselves as a leading turbine manufacturer via aggressive and rapid expansion throughout the USA, Europe and Asia. They are now seeking an experienced COO to oversee their operations with a focus on all legal transactions throughout North America.


Position Overview:
The COO will play a pivotal part in the expansion of the company throughout the US, providing support and guidance to management and other user departments in regards to compliance issues. They will be responsible for monitoring all daily operations and legal issues including reviewing, drafting and negotiating sales contract, energy project investment and financing contracts of the U.S. subsidiaries of the group. They will also assist the revision of the organization policies and procedures to cope with the rapid expansion of the company throughout the US and provide legal counseling and support in employment and dispute resolution issues.

 

Responsibilities:-

 

  • ·         Turbine sales negotiations (with diverse project partners like local developers, IPPs or utilities)
  • ·         Responsibility for both profit and loss
  • ·         Taking charge of the commercial, technical and organizational interests throughout China
  • ·         Monitor all daily legal issues including reviewing, drafting and negotiating sales contract, energy project investment and financing contracts of the U.S. subsidiaries of the group
  • ·         Provide supports and guidance to management and other user departments in compliance issues
  • ·         Maintaining and managing existing clients whilst developing new ones
  • ·         Negotiation and acquisition of lease agreements; securing grid connections and building permits
  • ·         Assist the revision of the organization policies and procedures to cope with the rapid expansion of the company in overseas, and to coordinate with offices outside U.S. to ensure the consistency of legal and compliance policies
  • ·         Negotiating terms and closing deals
  • ·         Provide legal counseling and support in employment and dispute resolution issues
  • ·         Participating in the draw up of bid documents and contracts
  • ·         Evaluating and selecting offers from contractors
  • ·         Ensure all deals meet revenue and margin expectations
  • ·         Manage projects by setting priorities and expectations, problem solving, communicating ongoing status updates
  • Planning and organizing of projects

 

Education:-

  • ·         Must have a law degree

Core Requirements:-

  • ·         Must have 5+ years in wind
  • ·         Strong leadership qualities
  • ·         Excellent commercial experience
  • ·         Project and time management skills
  • ·         Must have repeated success in negotiating sales contracts
  • ·         Needs to understand permitting, site acquisition, interconnection, project management, deal negotiation, financial modeling of renewable deals etc.

 

General Requirements:-

  • Ability to travel frequently to client sites
  • ·         Proficient with making impactful presentations
  • ·         Good oral and written communications skills  
  • ·         Ability to manage multiple projects in an environment of constantly changing priorities

 

Key Skills:-

  • ·         Wind, Must have a law degree, experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating sales contract, energy project investment and financing contracts, experience overseeing legal and compliance policies, team leadership and complex stakeholder and customer management experience.
