Greenpeace Australia Pacific has a mandate to defend the rich, diverse and fragile environments in the Australia Pacific region. As a member of the Senior Management Team within Greenpeace Australia Pacific, you will report directly to the CEO and take responsibility for leading, coordinating and implementing the operational and organisational goals and objectives of the organisation in collaboration with other members of the management team. The COO is responsible for the long-term financial, administrative viability of Greenpeace Australia Pacific including the day-to-day management of the organisation’s financial, physical and human resources. 

This position requires an experienced COO with a proven track record in a similar role who is dedicated to providing leadership in operational support to enable the advancement of campaigns that will assist in the achievement of Greenpeace in its mission.  

Ideally you will be able to address the following criteria:

  • Previous senior level experience in a similar role in a non-profit, working closely with senior management and supervising diverse staff.
  • Senior cross functional knowledge of all aspects of Corporate Services including Finance, HR, IT and Facilities.
  • Excellent knowledge and capability in developing HR strategy.
  • Advanced financial management and reporting skills.
  • Expertise in developing high level strategic and operational plans for delivering the strategy. 
  • Strong ability to analyse, review and assess the operational running of the organisation, which contribute and determine the overall success of the overall strategy.
  • Expertise in change management and internal communications. 
  • Experience of working in complex organisations. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NGO sector.   
  • Commitment to all Greenpeace Australia Pacific principles, policies and procedures.
