Description

Chemonics seeks a chief of party for the USAID-funded Enhance Climate Resiliency and Water Security project in the Maldives. The project aims to demonstrate the process and outcomes needed for island communities to overcome or ameliorate the impact of global climate change. It will provide assistance to the Ministry of Housing, Transport, and Environment; island and atoll councils; the private sector, primarily provincial utilities; and local residents. Support will focus on two islands in the northern part of the Maldives. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee implementation and logistics for technical program activities
  • Oversee day-to-day management of financial and administrative operations
  • Serve as a key liaison between the project and relevant counterparts
 Qualifications:
 
  • Advanced degree in engineering required 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working on water security, community awareness of climate adaptation, and provincial utilities and services 
  • Minimum three years experience managing donor-funded projects; previous chief of party experience preferred, not required
  • Technical knowledge of and experience in water and sanitation, infrastructure development and engineering, community development, and climate-change adaptation
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental, social, cultural, economic, and governance context of the atolls 
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity 
  • Fluency in English required
