Plant Heritage is the leading cultivated plant conservation charity in the UK. Our established National Plant Collections scheme is the role model for other international schemes, our Threatened Plants research project is beginning to produce exciting results whilst our embryonic Plant Guardian scheme has the potential to encourage more individuals to conserve individual plants. Whilst well established, the charity is working within a challenging financial environment. The Board of Trustees and staff are looking for an inspirational Chief Executive to lead the charity and be responsible for all aspects of management. You will be an inspiring, passionate and committed leader with excellent interpersonal skills, fundraising experience and the ability to take forward our vision. A change in fundraising culture is a priority for Plant Heritage to address in the immediate future, and it is essential that you have a demonstrable track record in this area; recruiting and retaining major donors, grant application writing, and empowering and enthusing members and trustees to play their part. The successful candidate will be a proven senior manager with excellent organisational and business management skills, with experience gained within the charitable or not-for-profit sector. You will need to be comfortable dealing with volunteers and, if possible, an interest in plant conservation. A strategic thinker, you will have already gained a valuable insight into marketing, PR and social media and will have the knowledge to lead this at an operational level.
