Directory Entry : The Orchard Project is the only national charity dedicated solely to the creation, restoration and celebration of community orchards. We aim to make a serious contribution to a better food system, based on people working together where they live to produce and harvest their own fruit.
Also Listing:

The London Orchard Project is a very small charity, dedicated to creating a skilled community of Londoners to plant, care for and harvest fruit trees, connecting urban communities and increasing access to fruit.  You can find out more at www.thelondonorchardproject.org

The charity was founded by Carina Millstone and Rowena Ganguli in January 2009, both of whom remain actively involved, but the successful development of the project has created the opportunity to recruit a new chief executive lead the organisation through this next important phase.  In the last months, the project has been highly successful in securing a number of grants, allowing it to plan for the longer term, and have a larger team.

The generous support of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the City of London’s City Bridge Trust and the Heritage Lottery Fund  has allowed  allow us to fully fund three part-time roles:

·       a Chief Executive (for up to 3 years)

·       a Project Manager, Creating new orchards (for up to 2 years)

·       a Project Manager, Rediscovering old orchards (for up to 2 years)

Following a successful recruitment exercise in spring, the two Project Managers took up their roles in May 2011.
