Description

My client is a leading all-rounded general construction firm that focuses on providing reliable and exceptional quality of design-build, construction, energy and facility services to its residential, commercial, federal and utility clients. Due to their continued expansion are looking to recruit a chief estimator to be based in NJ focused on government and public sector project bids.

 

Responsibilities:-

  • Responsible for estimates of site-related work for municipal and state utility projects
  • Work with general contractors to manage site design and provide value engineering as part of a design & build team and perform civil engineering services
  • Leading, training and guiding new estimators
  • Responsible for developing and updating utility standards and master plan and for review of construction plans for conformance with utility standards
  • Review estimates, engineering design, and documents with estimating team, and distribute bid documents to sub trades and suppliers
  • Liaise with various divisions and teams to prioritize and establish sequence of activities, and to ensure the completion deadlines are met
  • Provide monthly reports on projects regarding cost control, performance, billing, forecast, schedule and safety
  • Support project managers in project scoping activities for capital cost estimating as well as project coding activities
  • Awarded, negotiated and issued subcontracts and major purchase orders.  
  • Perform bid analyzing, bid recaps, solicited subcontractors, suppliers, specified manufacturers and monitor responses
  • Coordinate bid documentation
  • Review labour costs and productivities

 

Requirements:-

  • At least 5 years relevant work experience in the construction industry with a proven track record  of working on municipal and state utility projects
  • Strong educational background in Engineering
  • Excellent problem solving skills with a track record of developing solutions for projects
  • Good cash management experience
  • Must have very good knowledge in AutoCad andusing MS Excel and scheduling software
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and detecting realistic solutions
