Chief Advancement Officer Position.

Founded 47 years ago by Dian Fossey, the organization has spearheaded the protection and study of mountain gorillas, a critically endangered primate species with a rapidly shrinking population. Through daily monitoring and anti-poaching patrols by the organization’s trained field staff, research by an international team of scientists and collaboration with local partners, this population has doubled, from a low of 240 in the 1980s to a current population of 480. Mountain gorillas are the only great ape whose numbers are increasing, an achievement that represents one of the world’s most significant and successful conservation efforts.

Since 2000, Fossey Fund staff have undertaken field work in the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo, beginning efforts to study and protect the less well-known Grauer's gorillas, another species with a shrinking population.

To support this work, the Fossey Fund employs 140 staff in Rwanda and the Congo and has built local health clinics, access to clean water and parasite prevention and treatment programs that benefit both the staff and gorilla population.

The Fossey Fun is a 501(c)3 organization based in Atlanta and governed by a national board of 25 trustees. It has an annual budget just under $3 million.

The organization seeks a Chief Advancement Officer who will lead planning, management and oversight of all development, marketing, membership, communications and capital fundraising activities for the organization. The successful candidate will have demonstrated accomplishments achieving fundraising goals and managing a dedicated team. Experience building philanthropic support nationally and internationally is especially valued.

Please send cover letter and resume to nonprofit@victorysearchgroup.com.
