Job Description

Atkins is a leading international multi-disciplinary consultancy providing coastal and marine services to the Environment Agency, local authorities, port authorities, private developers, offshore energy industries and port operators. The business is expanding both nationally and internationally and we are looking to strengthen our established team.The team has recently been awarded the Building and Construction Industry Civil Engineering Award for the Coast Protection Scheme at Newbiggin Bay in the North East of England.

We require a Chartered Coastal Design Engineer with extensive experience in the design and construction of marine and coastal works to join this established and highly successful team in Epsom.


The position will involve a mix of office and site work. Office work will principally involve design work and familiarity with relevant standards is essential. Site attendances may require travel worldwide to undertake site inspections and assessments. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and possess excellent technical and strong communication and negotiation skills. Requirments

The post holder will have a MSc in Civil Engineering or closely related discipline, with a good track record of practical experience and interest in the Coastal Environment. The post holder will have the following essential attributes:Excellent report-writing skills, with the ability to review evidence and produce succinct and timely summaries.
  •  Numerical skills, with experience of working with spreadsheets
  •  Excellent presentational skills, and possibly consultation or facilitation experience
  •  Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels
  •   Be able to work as part of a team, as well as individually for discrete tasks
