Description

Job Title: Chapter Support Representative/National Campaigns 

Department: Conservation/SF, CA

Location: San Francisco (or Washington D.C.)

Reports To: Director, Office of Chapter Support

Context: The Chapter Support Representative for National Campaigns is responsible for facilitating an effective working relationship between assigned chapters and national Club departments, campaigns and programs, with specific focused responsibility for facilitating an effective collaboration between chapter leadership and national campaign and program leaders. 

Scope: 
The Chapter Support Representative for National Campaigns works to facilitate the multi-million dollar flow of national campaign and program funding to chapters for chapter-led work. Works to build the overall relationship between chapter leaders and national staff departments for an assigned sub-set of chapters. Establishes workable processes and procedures for chapter planning, tracking and results-reporting to ensure timely flow of funding to chapters that meets the planning, operational, and accountability needs of national campaigns, program and departments. 

Job Activities:

1) Communicates regularly with assigned chapter leaders and national campaign, program and department staff to facilitate successful application and authorization of national campaign funds to chapters as per the approved budget.

2) Develops and maintains strong working relationships with chapter leaders and national campaign, program and department staff as well as knowledge of their respective goals, priorities and operational processes.

3) Identifies, develops and facilitates best-practice protocols for coordination between chapter leaders and national campaign, program and department staff; advises chapter leaders and national staff on how best to coordinate and meet each other’s respective needs.

4) Effectively manages, guides and facilitates problem resolution as needed between chapter leaders and national campaign, program or department staff.

5) Advises chapter leaders on available national support as well as national expectations/requirements of chapters; advises chapter leaders on best-collaboration practices with national campaign, program and department staff.

6) Regularly updates internal tracking regarding chapter victories and national campaign and program funding to chapters; reports to relevant Club stakeholders. 

7) Participates in staff team meetings to share information about assigned chapters, and status of coordination between relevant chapters and national campaigns and programs.

8) Performs miscellaneous duties and special projects as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills:

-- 3-5 years experience in grassroots organizations, campaigns or non-profit management, or volunteer organizational or leadership development, with strong emphasis on successful collaborative work across organizational departments or units.

-- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

-- Experience with team facilitation and problem-resolution practices.

-- Experience with reading and using financial and budget data, spreadsheets and reports. 

-- Excellent writing and verbal skills, including public speaking.

-- Demonstrated familiarity with conservation and environmental topics, issues and literature on grassroots organizations

-- Familiarity with various computer systems, word processing packages, spreadsheets, and data tracking applications. 

-- Ability to advise, motivate, and work cooperatively with staff and volunteers.

-- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure

-- Periodic travel to up to 15% of the time.

 

This position is represented by a collective bargaining unit and is subject to the terms and conditions of the contract between Sierra Club and Sierra Employee Alliance.
