Summer Associate Details Include

  • Support a review of the USGBC Chapter Charter, including helping to develop and implement a new system for defining each chapter’s territory and delineating boundaries
  • Assist with the research and formulation of branch operating guidelines for chapters, which will include a branch start-up checklist and work plan template
  • Respond to chapter leader questions related to branch organizational structure, communications, and relations
  • Help create and disseminate a chapter non-compliance policy
  • Develop new system of organization for chapter governance documents, so items can be located quickly and easily
  • Support USGBC staff in responding to governance-related questions from chapter leaders, which may include the occasional review of chapter bylaws or articles of incorporation

Education and Training Requirements/Preferences

  • Minimum education requirements are current enrollment in undergraduate program in nonprofit management, public administration, pre-law, or related field

Experience Requirements

  • Must have a demonstrated interest in nonprofit management
  • Must have some experience working in a professional setting (i.e. summer job, work study)
  • Must have volunteer experience

Other Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated interest in nonprofit management and operations
  • Excellent project coordination, organizational, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent communications skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, adhere to timelines
  • Strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work
  • Proficient in all necessary MS Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Team player with outstanding interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to USGBC mission
