Chairman of Council This is an outstanding opportunity for an individual who wishes to make a major contribution to the conservation of Scotland’s wildlife and wild places, and to lead the governance of Scotland’s leading wildlife charity. Duties include chairing and developing the Trust’s Council, establishing and maintaining constructive links with key decision makers, members and supporters, acting as the Trust’s primary public figure, and working with the Chief Executive on the implementation of Council’s strategic decisions. The selected Chair will be an accomplished leader with a strong empathy for the natural environment. He or she will have excellent diplomatic skills, be adept at public speaking and building consensus, and have a natural affinity for cultivating relationships. The appointment is for an initial three years (October 2014 to October 2017); a further three years can be undertaken if endorsed by Trustees The post is without remuneration, except for reasonable administrative, travel and accommodation costs.
