Chair of the London Sustainable Development Commission

The London Sustainable Development Commission (LSDC) is the independent body responsible for advising the Mayor of London on making the capital a sustainable world city. We promote integrated and innovative solutions, policies and programmes to improve the quality of life for Londoners.

Join us and build on the success of the Commission at an exciting time of change where one of your first challenges will be to ensure that the LSDC is fit for purpose – with the necessary balance of skills, independence and influence to deliver and support action on the key issues of concern both to the Mayor and rest of London.

This role is a chance to lead on ideas as interesting and high profile as climate change, green entrepreneurship, circular economy, community cohesion and promoting sustainability leadership. As part of the Commission, you will inform London’s approach to quality of life while embedding sustainable development principles into regional and local decision making.

You will come to us with senior level experience in the sustainability field or a related area. As someone comfortable in a political environment, you will have the outstanding interpersonal skills to engage with the Mayor and his advisers and act as our spokesperson to the media. You will also have the drive and commitment to devise and deliver practical solutions to the sustainability challenges that London faces now and in the future.

We would particularly welcome applicants from minority and ethnic groups who are under-represented in this sector.

Closing date for completed applications: Sunday 28 September 2014 (Midnight)
